Members of the public can now apply for an International Driving Permit (IDP) through an online service launched today by the Transport Department. Users of “iAM Smart+” or eligible applicants holding a valid personal digital certificate may apply online via the GovHK website and receive their IDP by post, without the need to visit a licensing office in person. If the submitted documents and photograph are in order, the department will normally send successful applicants their IDP by registered post within 10 working days of the online application being made. The department reminded those who plan to drive outside of Hong Kong to allow sufficient time for the IDP applications to be processed. Citizens may continue to submit IDP applications by visiting licensing offices in person. Appointments can be booked online or by calling 3763 8080 to save queuing time. The Expert Committee on Clinical Events Assessment Following COVID-19 Immunisation assessed three death cases with history of vaccination during its meeting today.
As of April 4, the Department of Health received a total of 15 death reports with history of COVID-19 immunisation from the Hospital Authority.
The cases involve 11 men and four women aged between 55 and 80. Existing information indicates that most of these cases died of cardiovascular diseases.
Three of the cases were assessed in today's meeting.
The first case involves a 67-year-old man who passed away on March 13. The full autopsy report indicated that the patient died of acute myocardial infarction due to coronary atherosclerosis, while other investigations did not reveal possible immunological reactions due to a vaccine.
The committee considered that there was no causal relationship between the deceased's outcome and COVID-19 vaccination.
The second case involves a 68-year-old woman with hypertension, hypothyroidism and lipid disorder who passed away on March 29 and received a dose of CoronaVac 26 days before her death.
Based on the preliminary autopsy findings of acute myocardial infarction, the committee considered that the deceased's outcome was not directly associated with COVID-19 vaccination.
The last case involves a 62-year-old man with a history of newly diagnosed hypertension who passed away on April 2 and received a dose of CoronaVac 25 days prior to his death. The causality assessment will be conducted when preliminary autopsy findings are available.
