Virus tests in restricted areas end

The Government announced that the compulsory testing exercises and enforcement operations for the restricted areas in Tsuen Wan finished today. A total of about 1,195 residents were tested and no confirmed COVID-19 cases were found.   It exercised the power under the Prevention & Control of Disease (Compulsory Testing for Certain Persons) Regulation on April 19 to make restriction-testing declarations to require people within the specified restricted areas at Fu Yung Building and Block 4 of Belvedere Garden Phase 2 to stay in their premises and undergo compulsory testing.   The Government also issued compulsory testing notices to those who had been at these buildings for more than two hours from April 6 to 19 to undergo mandatory testing by April 21 even if they were not at the buildings when the declarations took effect.   About 280 residents in Fu Yung Building and about 915 people in Block 4 of Belvedere Garden Phase 2 were tested.   The Government also checked about 595 residents' test records during the enforcement operations for the two buildings. Ten people were found to have not undergone mandatory testing and were issued with a compulsory testing order.   Additionally, the Government assigned staff to visit around 420 households in the buildings, of which about 30 did not answer the door. These include some households with confirmed cases or are undergoing quarantine and some units that are possibly vacant.   Those who did not answer the door are urged to contact the Government to arrange testing as soon as possible.

Railway settlement exceeds limit

The construction works of a relocation project in Kowloon have been suspended after a settlement monitoring checkpoint exceeded the limit, the Government said today.   The project relocates supporting operational facilities of Tsim Sha Tsui Fire Station Complex, Fire Services Club and other fire services accommodations to To Wah Road in Kowloon.   The Government explained that the readings recorded in a settlement monitoring checkpoint installed inside the railway tunnel between Kowloon Station and Olympic Station of the MTR Tung Chung Line had reached 20.27mm on September 7. The preset trigger level for works suspension is 20mm.   For the sake of prudence, the Mass Transit Railway Corporation suspended relevant works within the railway protection area on the same day.   The Buildings Department and the Architectural Services Department deployed staff to inspect the affected railway tunnel and confirmed that it is structurally safe.   The Electrical & Mechanical Services
