Secretary for Health Prof Lo Chung-mau met a delegation led by Guangdong Provincial Medical Products Administration (GDMPA) General Director Jiang Xiaodong today, with both sides agreeing to further deepen collaboration in relevant areas. Prof Lo said the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government expressed its sincere gratitude to the GDMPA for its staunch support for Hong Kong in the past, including the implementation of the initiatives of, among others, the measure of using Hong Kong registered drugs and medical devices used in Hong Kong public hospitals in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and streamlining of the approval procedures for Hong Kong registered traditional proprietary Chinese medicines (pCms) for external use to be registered and sold in the Mainland. About 1,704,400 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public, with about 1,055,500 people receiving their first dose and about 648,900 getting their second dose.
Among those given the first dose of vaccines, about 473,200 people have received the Sinovac jab and about 582,400 people have received the BioNTech one.
For the second dose, about 338,200 people have received the Sinovac vaccine, while about 310,700 people have been administered the BioNTech jab.
About 4,900 people received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme today.
Among them, about 3,300 people received the jab at community vaccination centres (CVCs), while about 1,600 people were inoculated at private doctors and clinics participating in the programme.
Around 4,000 people received their second dose of the Sinovac vaccine today, including about 2,800 people vaccinated at CVCs and about 1,200 people through private doctors and clinics.
For the BioNTech vaccine, about 12,200 people received their first dose at CVCs and about 20,900 people received their second dose.
The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine at CVCs is 96%, and that for the BioNTech one is 97%.
As of 8pm, about 2,700 people had booked their first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine online, while about 8,600 had reserved their first and second doses of the BioNTech jab.
As of midnight, 16 people were sent to hospitals.
