The value of Hong Kong’s total exports decreased to $284.1 billion in February, down 0.8% on the same month last year, the Census & Statistics Department announced today. The value of imports of goods fell 1.8% to $325.7 billion for the same period. A trade deficit of $41.7 billion, or 12.8% of the value of imports, was recorded in February. Comparing the three-month period ending February with the preceding three months on a seasonally adjusted basis, the value of exports rose 5.5%, while that of imports also increased 3.3%. The Government noted that taking the first two months of the year together to remove the volatility caused by the difference in timing of the Lunar New Year, the value of exports posted a 16.6% growth against a very low base of comparison a year ago. About 1,926,200 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public, with about 1,154,000 people receiving their first dose and about 772,200 getting their second dose.
Among those given the first dose of vaccines, about 502,000 people have received the Sinovac jab and about 652,000 people have received the BioNTech one.
For the second dose, about 364,000 people have received the Sinovac vaccine, while about 408,200 people have been administered the BioNTech jab.
About 4,200 people received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme today.
Among them, about 2,800 people received the jab at community vaccination centres (CVCs), while about 1,300 people were inoculated at private doctors and clinics participating in the programme.
Around 4,300 people received their second dose of the Sinovac vaccine today, including about 2,700 vaccinated at CVCs and about 1,600 people through private doctors and clinics.
For the BioNTech vaccine, about 11,700 people received their first dose at CVCs and about 17,400 people received their second dose.
The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine at CVCs and that of the BioNTech vaccine are both about 96%.
As of 8pm, about 3,000 people booked their first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine online, while about 6,100 reserved their first and second doses of the BioNTech jab.
As of midnight, 12 people were sent to hospitals.
