Testing records checked

The Government today completed a joint enforcement operation at Block 12 of Richland Gardens in Kowloon Bay, which was earlier included in a compulsory testing notice.   The enforcement action was conducted from around 8am to 11am by the Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Bureau together with Police and the Department of Health.   Out of the 269 people whose records were checked, three had failed to comply with the notice. They were issued with a compulsory testing order and a fixed penalty notice of $10,000. http://dlvr.it/SZ0L6k

UK, Ireland flights to resume

The Government today said it will allow flights from the UK and Ireland to resume on May 7, subject to no significant change to the epidemic situation in Hong Kong and in relevant overseas places.   It made the decision after having considered the stabilising local epidemic situation and the relatively satisfactory vaccination rate in the UK and Ireland.   Hong Kong residents in the two places may board flights for Hong Kong and would be subject to the most stringent compulsory quarantine and testing arrangements upon arrival in the city.   They must have obtained a negative COVID-19 test result with samples taken 72 hours prior to departure as well as confirmation of a 21-night room reservation in a designated quarantine hotel.   Upon arrival in Hong Kong, they will be subject to the test-and-hold arrangement for obtaining a negative result at the airport, after which they will be subject to a 21-day compulsory quarantine in the designated quarantine hotel undergoing at least three tests during the period, and compulsory testing on the 26th day of arrival after completion of quarantine. Considering that the epidemic situation is still unstable in the existing extremely high-risk places such as India, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Brazil and South Africa, the Government will continue to restrict people who have stayed in those places from boarding a flight for Hong Kong.

124 COVID-19 cases reported

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 124 additional COVID-19 cases. More cases were detected in Kwai Chung Estate. There are also more than 70 preliminary positive cases.   Among the newly reported cases, 33 are related to Kwai Chung Estate, bringing the total number of positive and preliminary positive cases in the estate to 276.   One more positive case was found after an earlier confirmed case occurred at Glory Court, Tsuen Wan Garden, both of them live in units 5 but on two different floors. The centre has co-ordinated with related government departments and conducted an inspection today.    It was preliminarily considered that vertical transmission of virus via pipes is involved.   The centre will issue quarantine orders to residents of unit 5 on all floors of the building who resided there during the incubation period of the relevant cases and transfer them to a quarantine facility.   As it is possible that virus might be ejected from the open
