The value of Hong Kong's total exports decreased to $338.3 billion in April, down 13% on the same month last year, the Census & Statistics Department announced today. The value of imports of goods decreased 11.9% to $374.9 billion for the same period. A trade deficit of $36.6 billion, or 9.8% of the value of imports, was recorded in April. Comparing the three-month period ending April with the preceding three months on a seasonally adjusted basis, the value of exports rose 15.4%, while that of imports increased 10.7%. The Government noted that the value of merchandise exports declined further from a year earlier in April. Exports to the Mainland, the US and the European Union all shrank and exports to other major Asian markets recorded decreases of varying degrees. About 3,182,500 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public, with about 1,916,300 people receiving their first dose and around 1,266,200 getting their second dose.
Among those given the first dose of vaccines, about 836,600 people have received the Sinovac jab and about 1,079,800 people have received the BioNTech one.
For the second dose, about 522,000 people have received the Sinovac vaccine, while about 744,200 people have been administered the BioNTech jab.
About 12,100 people received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine and around 5,700 people received their second dose under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme today.
For the BioNTech vaccine, about 21,200 people received their first dose and about 12,500 people received their second dose.
The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine at community vaccination centres is about 97%, while it is 98% for the BioNTech one.
As of 8pm, about 6,200 people booked their first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine online, while about 17,200 reserved their first and second doses of the BioNTech jab.
As of midnight, 16 people were sent to hospitals.
