Testing records checked

The Government today completed a joint enforcement operation at Block 12 of Richland Gardens in Kowloon Bay, which was earlier included in a compulsory testing notice.   The enforcement action was conducted from around 8am to 11am by the Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Bureau together with Police and the Department of Health.   Out of the 269 people whose records were checked, three had failed to comply with the notice. They were issued with a compulsory testing order and a fixed penalty notice of $10,000. http://dlvr.it/SZ0L6k

1.5m register for voucher scheme

The Government said about 1.55 million people have submitted an electronic registration for the Consumption Voucher Scheme via its online registration portal as of 6pm today, the first day of the scheme’s registration.   Registration was generally smooth, with more than 1.3 million of those who registered authenticating their identity by answering security questions related to the Cash Payout Scheme launched last year.   Registration via the iAM Smart mobile app was obstructed this morning because the system was heavily loaded. The situation has gradually improved since this afternoon.   Financial Secretary Paul Chan reminded the public not to rush for registration in the first few days, as eligible registrants who have completed the electronic registration in the coming two weeks or by July 17 will normally receive the first voucher on August 1 after their eligibility is confirmed.   Those who choose to submit paper forms may drop the completed forms, together with a copy of their Hong Kong identity card, into the drop boxes at all post offices and designated branches of five banks starting tomorrow.   Eligible people who submit paper forms or complete electronic registrations on or after July 18 will normally receive the first voucher on September 1.   The scheme is open for registration until August 14.   Click here or call the hotline 18 5000 for more information.

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 124 additional COVID-19 cases. More cases were detected in Kwai Chung Estate. There are also more than 70 preliminary positive cases.   Among the newly reported cases, 33 are related to Kwai Chung Estate, bringing the total number of positive and preliminary positive cases in the estate to 276.   One more positive case was found after an earlier confirmed case occurred at Glory Court, Tsuen Wan Garden, both of them live in units 5 but on two different floors. The centre has co-ordinated with related government departments and conducted an inspection today.    It was preliminarily considered that vertical transmission of virus via pipes is involved.   The centre will issue quarantine orders to residents of unit 5 on all floors of the building who resided there during the incubation period of the relevant cases and transfer them to a quarantine facility.   As it is possible that virus might be ejected from the open
