The value of Hong Kong’s total goods exports increased to $389 billion in April, up 1.1% compared with the same month last year, the Census & Statistics Department announced today. The value of imports of goods rose 2.1% to $425.6 billion for the same period. A trade deficit of $36.6 billion, or 8.6% of the value of imports, was recorded for the month. Comparing the three-month period ending April with the preceding three months on a seasonally adjusted basis, the value of total exports decreased 12% while that of imports fell 11.7%. The Government said epidemic-induced transportation disruptions, though easing somewhat in the latter part of the month, continued to constrain export performance. It pointed out that exports to the Mainland fell while those to the US and the European Union posted visible growth. About 4,277,300 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public, with about 2,541,800 people receiving their first dose and around 1,735,500 getting their second dose.
Among those given the first dose of vaccines, about 1,064,400 people have received the Sinovac jab and about 1,477,400 people have received the BioNTech one.
For the second dose, about 717,500 people have received the Sinovac vaccine, while about 1,017,900 people have been administered the BioNTech jab.
About 70,000 people received jabs under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme today.
About 11,500 people received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine and around 15,800 people received their second dose.
For the BioNTech vaccine, about 21,000 people received their first dose and about 21,700 people received their second dose.
The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine at community vaccination centres is about 97%, while it is 98% for the BioNTech one.
As of 8pm, about 5,300 people booked their first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine online, while about 28,000 reserved their first and second doses of the BioNTech jab.
As of midnight, 12 people were sent to hospitals.
