Chief Executive John Lee cheered on the Hong Kong athletes taking part in various events at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou today. Mr Lee went to games venues to watch events in which Hong Kong athletes were competing, including swimming, wushu and fencing, and extended his warmest congratulations to the athletes who won medals. Noting that having the games in their own country is of great importance to Hong Kong athletes, Mr Lee said he was pleased to have the opportunity to watch Hong Kong competitors strive for excellence and demonstrate extraordinary capabilities. The Government today welcomed the opening up of China National Arts Fund applications from local arts institutions and practitioners for the first time.
The Council of the China National Arts Fund announced that the China National Arts Fund 2022 now accepts applications from Hong Kong and Macau. Eligible arts institutions and practitioners may submit applications via the arts fund’s website from July to September.
The 14th Five-Year Plan promulgated in March included support for Hong Kong to develop into an arts and culture exchange hub of China and the rest of the world.
The Government said it will continue to assist the arts and culture sector to seize the opportunities offered by the country’s 14th Five-Year Plan.
Accepting Hong Kong applications for the arts fund is a testimony to the country’s care for the development of the city’s arts and culture sector and arts talents, providing them a wider scope of development, it added.
