Rural voter registration opens

The 2024 voter registration campaign for the Rural Representative Election opened today and the Home Affairs Department called on those eligible to sign up by June 16.   The department explained that there are three types of rural representatives - Indigenous Inhabitant Representatives, Resident Representatives and Kaifong Representatives.   Indigenous Inhabitant Representatives are returned by indigenous inhabitants, their spouses or surviving spouses of an indigenous village or composite indigenous village.   Resident Representatives are returned by both indigenous and non-indigenous inhabitants residing in an existing village.   Kaifong Representatives are returned by Cheung Chau or Peng Chau residents.   Voter registration for the Indigenous Inhabitant Representative Election is open to indigenous inhabitants, their spouses or surviving spouses, aged 18 or above and holding recognised identity documents.   Registration for the Resident Representative and Kai

5 imported COVID-19 cases detected

The Centre for Health Protection said today it is investigating five additional imported COVID-19 cases involving patients who arrived from Nigeria, Pakistan, Indonesia, Turkey and the US.   A total of 44 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days. CE to meet Congo president

Skewed remarks about NSL rejected
