The Environmental Protection Department said it does not tolerate concrete batching plants operating without a licence and will make every effort to stop any illegal operations. The department made the statement in response to media reports yesterday of a concrete batching plant at 20 Tung Yuen Street in Yau Tong continuing to operate without holding a valid Specified Process Licence (SPL). The department has been closely monitoring the operation of two plants, both owned by China Concrete. The other plant is at 22 Tung Yuen Street in Yau Tong. Regarding the plant at 20 Tung Yuen Street, the Air Pollution Control Appeal Board dismissed an appeal lodged by China Concrete against the department’s refusal of its application for renewal of an SPL for the plant on November 22. Under the Air Pollution Control (Specified Processes) Regulations, the plant’s SPL ceased to be valid with immediate effect and the department issued a letter requesting that all works be halte
About 6,447,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public, with about 3,634,800 people receiving their first dose and around 2,812,300 getting their second dose.
Among those given the first dose of vaccines, about 1,390,600 people have received the Sinovac jab and about 2,244,200 people have received the BioNTech one.
For the second dose, about 1,102,300 people have received the Sinovac vaccine, while about 1,709,900 people have been administered the BioNTech jab.
About 65,900 people received jabs under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme today.
About 9,900 people received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine and around 9,700 people received their second dose.
For the BioNTech vaccine, about 23,200 people received their first dose and around 23,100 people got their second dose.
The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine at community vaccination centres is about 97%, while it is about 98% for the BioNTech one.
As of 8pm, about 3,400 people booked their first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine online, while about 14,200 reserved their first and second doses of the BioNTech jab.
As of midnight, 22 people were sent to hospitals.
