Chief Executive John Lee cheered on the Hong Kong athletes taking part in various events at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou today. Mr Lee went to games venues to watch events in which Hong Kong athletes were competing, including swimming, wushu and fencing, and extended his warmest congratulations to the athletes who won medals. Noting that having the games in their own country is of great importance to Hong Kong athletes, Mr Lee said he was pleased to have the opportunity to watch Hong Kong competitors strive for excellence and demonstrate extraordinary capabilities. He expressed his hope that Hong Kong athletes will continue to excel and unleash their potential to achieve outstanding results. About 6,579,600 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public, with about 3,698,700 people receiving their first dose and around 2,880,900 getting their second dose.
Among those given the first dose of vaccines, about 1,408,700 people have received the Sinovac jab and about 2,290,000 people got the BioNTech one.
For the second dose, about 1,122,500 people have received the Sinovac vaccine, while about 1,758,500 people have been administered the BioNTech jab.
About 64,000 people received jabs under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme today.
About 8,200 people received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine and around 9,100 people received their second dose.
For the BioNTech vaccine, about 22,200 people received their first dose and around 24,500 people got their second dose.
The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine at community vaccination centres is about 97%, while it is about 98% for the BioNTech one.
As of 8pm, about 2,800 people booked their first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine online, while about 10,400 reserved their first and second doses of the BioNTech jab.
As of midnight, 12 people were sent to hospitals.
