Chief Executive John Lee cheered on the Hong Kong athletes taking part in various events at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou today. Mr Lee went to games venues to watch events in which Hong Kong athletes were competing, including swimming, wushu and fencing, and extended his warmest congratulations to the athletes who won medals. Noting that having the games in their own country is of great importance to Hong Kong athletes, Mr Lee said he was pleased to have the opportunity to watch Hong Kong competitors strive for excellence and demonstrate extraordinary capabilities. He expressed his hope that Hong Kong athletes will continue to excel and unleash their potential to achieve outstanding results. The Transport Department reminded students, especially those attending new schools, to familiarise themselves with the public transport services to schools and allow more travelling time on the first school day.
The department issued the reminder today, advising major public transport operators to provide adequate transport services to cater for the demand that day.
It also advised motorists to avoid school areas if possible.
Drivers of nanny vans and school buses should drive with care and are not allowed to leave schoolchildren unattended in vehicles. They should also keep their vehicles clean and hygienic.
Parents should arrange pick-up and drop-off locations for their kids in advance with nanny van or school bus operators.
