Secretary for Health Prof Lo Chung-mau today visited Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital to get an update on the service of public hospitals. He toured the hospital’s specialist outpatient clinic, medical ward, accident and emergency department and hyperbaric oxygen therapy centre, followed by a meeting with its management and frontline healthcare staff to learn about the service demands and manpower deployment. Prof Lo said: "Having gone through the anti-epidemic work in the past three years, Hong Kong is on the road to full normalcy. About 8,440,200 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public, with about 4,422,300 people receiving their first dose and around 4,018,000 getting their second dose.
Among those given the first dose of vaccines, about 1,603,500 people have received the Sinovac jab and about 2,818,800 people got the BioNTech one.
For the second dose, about 1,463,100 people have received the Sinovac vaccine, while about 2,554,800 people have been administered the BioNTech jab.
About 16,500 people received jabs under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme today.
Around 900 people received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine and around 2,400 people received their second dose.
For the BioNTech vaccine, about 3,300 people received their first dose and around 10,000 people got their second dose.
The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine at community vaccination centres is about 95% while it is about 91% for the BioNTech one.
As of midnight, no one was sent to hospital.
