Chief Executive John Lee said he is saddened by the murders that took place at a shopping centre last night and he extended his deep condolences to the families of the two deceased. Mr Lee made the statement following the murder case that happened at Plaza Hollywood in Diamond Hill on the evening of June 2. Apart from explaining that Police have arrested the suspect and will spare no effort in investigating the case, the statement pointed out that this is an individual case. It added that Police and various law enforcement agencies will continue to strive to maintain law and order in Hong Kong. The Registration & Electoral Office (REO) announced today that the final register of the new-term Election Committee (EC) will be released on October 22.
It contains the names and registration particulars of the members of the fifth-term Election Committee which will last for five years starting October 22.
According to Annex I to the Basic Law, the EC’s functions include nominating all candidates for becoming Legislative Council members and electing the 40 EC constituency members in the LegCo election.
The nomination period for the LegCo General Election will start on October 30. The EC members can subscribe to the nomination form of the candidates in accordance with the legislation upon the starting date of the new-term EC.
EC members who wish to peruse their own registration particulars on the final register may, from October 22 onwards, log on to the Online Voter Information Enquiry System or call the REO hotline at 2891 1001.
The EC final register will be made available for inspection by specified people from October 22 at the two REO offices at 10/F, Harbour Centre in Wan Chai and 13/F, Kowloonbay International Trade & Exhibition Centre.
Eligible organisations may make appointments to inspect the register by calling 2891 4082 or 2891 2070 during business hours starting tomorrow.
Four inspection time slots, each of which lasts 1.5 hours, will be provided on each working day on a first come, first served basis.
A notice on the final register inspection will be gazetted on October 22.
