With the aim of combatting the fear and misconceptions surrounding mental illness, Castle Peak Hospital’s Mind Space museum enables visitors to experience hallucinations, similar to the sensory experiences mentally ill patients encounter, by way of rooms that utilise virtual reality (VR) technology. A group of secondary students recently embarked on a journey through Mind Space after registering and receiving patient wristbands. This unique mental health experience museum provided them with a comprehensive understanding of the development of psychiatric services in Hong Kong. Displays in the museum showcase intriguing relics, including the evolution of restraints and handwritten patient records. Additionally, the students were given the opportunity to explore a mock protection room designed to provide a calming environment for patients. Territory-wide Physical Fitness Survey for the Community test days to be held in September is open for enrollment from today, the Leisure & Cultural Services Department announced today.
The survey aims to set up a database on the physical fitness of Hong Kong people, identify the relationship between their physical exercise patterns and physical fitness as well as assist the Government in identifying priority areas for improvement to enhance the community's overall physical fitness.
The target group of the new test days is citizens aged between 17 and 59.
The test, which takes around one hour, will carried out from September 3 to 4 at Tung Cheong Street Sports Centre in Tai Po, on September 7, 14 and 15 at Ma On Shan Sports Ground, and on September 16, 22, 23 and 27 at Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground.
Those interested may register in advance on the designated webpage, or enrol on the test days on first-come, first served basis, the department added.
