The Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau announced today the setting up of a co-ordination office to carry out planning and implementation work for the upcoming National Games, National Games for Persons with Disabilities and National Special Olympic Games. The National Games Coordination Office, led by three senior directorate officers, will work closely with the governments of Guangdong and the Macao Special Administration Region to co-organise the 15th National Games. The State Council announced in August 2021 that the 15th National Games are to be co-hosted in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau in 2025, the first time Hong Kong will have co-hosted the National Games. The three locations will also co-host the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games after the 15th National Games are held. The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 3,172 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 449 were identified through nucleic acid tests and 2,723 via rapid antigen tests.
Separately, 111 imported cases were detected.
Furthermore, seven residential care homes for the elderly and five for disabled people logged 13 cases involving their residents.
The Hospital Authority reported that 20 patients passed away in public hospitals. According to a preliminary analysis, the cause of death for nine patients was related to COVID-19, while that of the remaining 11 patients was unrelated.
It also registered eight more critical cases, bringing the number of patients in critical condition to 93.
Separately, to align with the Government’s cancellation of issuing isolation orders from tomorrow, the authority will, starting from the same day, announce at 8.30am and 1pm the information of general out-patient clinics (GOPC) quota reserved for COVID-19 patients.
COVID-19 patients may refer to the HA website or the designated website for such information before making an appointment.
All COVID-19 patients can use the “Book COVID (GOPC)” function of the “HA Go” mobile app or the GOPC telephone appointment system to make a reservation.
They can also call the HA enquiry hotline 1836 115 which will make referral for COVID-19 patients who need GOPC services for further treatment.
In addition, the seven “Care Booking Lines” will continue to provide assistance to patients, where priority will be given to high-risk patients to make appointments.
Patients who require COVID-19 oral drugs can also consult the relevant private doctors.
