Covering 193 designated Mainland institutions, 132 of which participated in the 2023-24 Scheme for Admission of Hong Kong Students to Mainland Higher Education Institutions, the subsidy scheme is of most benefit to local students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds who wish to pursue undergraduate studies in the Mainland.
While the scheme is not subject to any quota system, applicants may only receive either a means-tested subsidy or a non-means-tested subsidy in the same academic year.
The subsidy is granted on a yearly basis and the subsidised period covers the normal duration of the undergraduate programme pursued by the student concerned.
Eligible students may enrol online or by post. Application results are expected to be released by the first quarter of 2024.
