Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip today visited the community vaccination centre (CVC) at University of Hong Kong (HKU) Loke Yew Hall to inspect its operation and thanked the medical team and administrative support staff.   The CVC at HKU began serving the public on February 23 and May 22 will be its last day of service.   Mr Nip said back in February that the situation of the fifth wave of the epidemic was severe, with a strong demand for vaccination.   He added that the Civil Service Bureau was working at full throttle, setting up more vaccination venues and boosting the vaccination rate to enable more people to have the protection conferred by the vaccines in a short period of time.   With the support of the medical team organised by HKU and the joint efforts of Prof Yuen Kwok-yung, Prof Ivan Hung and the medical staff, the Government has for the first time set up a vaccination centre on a university campus serving all members of the public in Hong Kong.   The va

The Government today announced a further relaxation of social distancing measures with a view to relaunching social and economic activities in an orderly manner.   In a press release, the Government explained that following the first stage of relaxation since April 21, the COVID-19 epidemic situation in Hong Kong has remained under control.   As the number of daily new cases has been on a continuous downward trend without a salient sign of rebound, coupled with the fact that Vaccine Pass requirements have been put in place since April 30, it considered that Hong Kong is ready to implement the second stage of relaxation in social distancing measures from May 19 as scheduled, and suitably advance the easing of certain measures from May 5.   Starting on May 5, three social distancing measures will be eased. Parents of Primary 6 students participating in the 2022 Secondary School Places Allocation System will receive notifications on May 4 if their applications have been successful, the Education Bureau said today.   Parents do not need to reply to schools to say whether they accept the discretionary place offers or not.   Parents who have also successfully applied for a school place in a non-participating Direct Subsidy Scheme (NDSS) secondary school for their children should decide whether to retain the offer from the school.   If they decide to retain the offer from an NDSS secondary school, they should disregard the notifications from the participating secondary schools.   However, if parents decide to decline the offer they should notify the NDSS secondary school and retrieve the originals of the signed undertaking as well as the Primary 6 Student Record Form by May 12, in order to retain the school place successfully applied for in the discretionary place stage.   Students
